Jerry Lieblich lives and writes plays in New York. Plays include D Deb Debbie Deborah (Clubbed Thumb – Critic’s Pick: NY Times, TimeOut NY), Tongue Depressor (The Public Theatre / Brooklyn College), Nostalgia is a Mild Form of Grief (Playwrights Horizons, Vineyard Theater), Ghost Stories (Cloud City - Critic’s Pick: TimeOut NY), Your Hair Looked Great (Abrons Arts Center), The Barbarians (New York Theatre Workshop, Dixon Place, PRELUDE), and A Discourse on the Method… (Ensemble Studio Theatre). He is the founder of the theater company Third Ear.

While at MacDowell, he wrote Mahinerator, a monologue play in an invented dialect about an ambitious bureaucrat who designs logistical systems for more efficient killing. It is an examination of the banal and thoughtless evil that undergirds environmental destruction. He also wrote a portion of the opera libretto Everything for Dawn, commissioned by Experiments in Opera.
