Jessica Kingdon is a Chinese-American director/producer named one of 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine and a DOC NYC 40 Under 40. Her award-winning short Commodity City shot in Yiwu, China was shortlisted for a Cinema Eye Honor and played at over 50 film festivals. She co-directed It’s Coming! (2020), which is supported by Rooftop Films and is a Vimeo Staff Pick, and Routine Island (2019), included in the Eyeslicer Season 2. Residencies and labs include the Artist Academy at the New York Film Festival, UnionDocs, Points North Institute, Film Independent, and IFP. Producer credits include Born To Be (dir. Tania Cypriano, NYFF 2019), The Waterslide (dir. Nathan Truesdell, True/False in 2018), 8:08: How We Respond (dir. Ian Bell, Sheffield 2019), and Old Stone (dir. Johnny Ma, Berlinale 2016). She is currently a Firelight Media fellow and is a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective.
At MacDowell, she collaborated with Nathan Truesdell on an upcoming feature documentary Ascension (previously Untitled Prc Project). It has received support from organizations including SFFilm, Chicken & Egg, Cinereach, Sundance, and Field of Vision, and was on Indiewire's Sundance Wishlist for 2021.
