Jessica Shattuck worked on her at-the-time untitled third novel, set in post-WWII Germany. She has had short stories published in The New Yorker, Open City, and Glamour, among other magazines, and is the author of the novels The Hazards of Good Breeding (2003) and Perfect Life (2009), both published by W. W. Norton.

Jessica Shattuck worked in the Sprague-Smith studio.
In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
