Joelle Fraser graduated from the University of Hawaii and has M.F.A.s from Eastern Washington University and the University of Iowa.
A two-time MacDowell Fellow, Fraser’s award-winning work has appeared in many literary journals, including Hawaii Pacific Review, High desert Journal, Michigan Quarterly Review, Fourth Genre, Crazyhorse, Zyzzyva, and The Iowa Review. Her first book, The Territory of Men: A Memoir, was published in 2002 by Random House. She is the author of: The Forest House: A Year’s Journey into the Landscape of Love, Loss, and Starting Over.
At MacDowell in 2000, Fraser was completing her memoir, The Territory of Men, to be published by Random House in Fall 2001. She had work in recent issues of Michigan Quarterly Review, The Iowa Review, and Fourth Genre.
During her 2005 residency, she focused on revisions of her second book, Love Lock, to be published by Random House. The paperback edition of her memoir The Territory of Men went into a second printing in 2004.
