John Acorn is an American sculptor. Dedicated to no single theme, Acorn’s artwork reflects whatever happens to strike him. He avoids the term “inspiration,” instead preferring the word “source” for the origins of his pieces. His work, primarily carved in wood, has earned him an Elizabeth O’Neil Verner award, as well as a Distinguished Emeriti Award from Clemson University, where he was on the faculty from 1961 to 1997.
