John Huggler (1928-1993) was an American composer who was born in Rochester, NY. He attended the Eastman School of Music, graduating in 1950. From 1965-1991 he served on the music faculty of the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
