Jose Carlos Teixeira worked towards finishing different versions of his video-essay The Fall before beginning a research based project. He has been involved in many exhibitions and screenings both in Europe and the United States, as well as in Brazil, China, Singapore, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, and Cape Verde. Teixeira holds an M.F.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and was a fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Film/Video/New Media during 2008-2009.

Jose Carlos Teixeira worked in the Mixter studio.
Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.
