Kara Kai Wang is a Chinese American poet living in San Francisco. Her work has been published in Indiana Review, TriQuarterly, Best New Poets, Ninth Letter, Asian American Literary Review, and others. She is currently a medical student at UCSF and is interested in pursuing public psychiatry.
While at MacDowell, she worked on her first collection, which influenced by her parent’s experience during the Cultural Revolution in China.

Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small,
masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also
designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).

the time of construction, the large porch on the southeast façade
offered a spectacular mountain view that has since been obscured…
