Karen Parkman is a writer and teacher. She was a Teacher & Librarian Scholar at the Key West Literary Seminar, a Sozopol Fiction Seminars Fellow, and has attended a residency at the Vermont Studio Center. She earned her M.F.A. in creative writing from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and her work has been published in Joyland and Witness Magazine. While at MacDowell she worked on her first novel.

Karen Parkman worked in the Adams studio.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
