Kari Cholnoky holds an M.F.A. in painting from Cranbrook and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. She attended the Worth Advisory Artist Residency in Bovina, NY and the Fountainhead Residency, Miami. The artist lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Recent solo exhibitions include MAW at Nicelle Beauchene Gallery in New York (2021) and Impending Moreness at Julius Caesar Gallery in Chicago (2021). Group exhibitions include Theorem X/Y at Rachel Uffner Gallery and Mrs. Gallery in New York (2021); In Sickness and In Health at Nicelle Beauchene Gallery in New York (2020); Cult of the Crimson Queen at Ceysson & Benetiere in New York (2020); and Wirrwarr at Anton Kern Gallery in New York (2019).
While in residence at MacDowell, Cholnoky worked on small-scale paintings that will inform a body of work to be exhibited in November in her solo show at Nicelle Beauchene Gallery. The work is made primarily with paper pulp, wire, epoxy putty, and collage.
