Karl Kroeger is an American composer and professor of music at several universities. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky and studied at the University of Louisville, where he earned an M.M., and at the University of Illinois. Kroeger was head of the American Music Collection at the New York Public Library and joined the faculty of Ohio University in 1967. He then began studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and transferred to Brown University to complete his Ph.D. Since then, Kroeger has directed the Moravian Music Foundation and taught at the University of Colorado.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
