Kate Blakinger’s fiction has appeared in the Gettysburg Review, Harpur Palate, Iowa Review, and New Stories from the Midwest. She holds an M.F.A. from the Helen Zell Writers' Program at the University of Michigan, where she was awarded the Meijer Postgraduate Fellowship. She has also received fellowships from the Elizabeth George Foundation, Jentel, MacDowell, and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. She was the emerging writer-in-residence at Penn State Altoona in 2010. In 2018, Blakinger was elected to local office as a Democratic committee person. She lives in Philadelphia with her family.

Phi Beta

Kate Blakinger worked in the Phi Beta studio.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
