LJ Roberts is a Brooklyn based artist and writer. She makes large-scale knitted installations using children's toy knitting machines and writes about the intersections of craft and queer theory. Her solo show "Building It Up To Tear It Down" opened at Southern Exposure in San Francisco in 2010. In 2009, Roberts was a Smack Mellon Hot Pick Artist and an Artist-in Residence at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, NY.
