LaMont Hamilton is a visual artist. He worked on his multidisciplinary piece Five on the Black Hand Side, which looks at tactile communication amongst Black men particularly in the United States. Hamilton has been the recipient of several fellowships, awards, and residencies, including the Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, City of Chicago's IAP Award, Performance Project @University Settlement, Midwestern Voices and Visions Award, Artist-in-Residence at Duke University, and Bemis Center for Contemporary Art.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
