Lilah Hegnauer worked on her second book of poetry, Pantry, which won the Hub City Press New Southern Voices Poetry Award selected by D.A. Powell, and was published in February of 2014. Her first book, Dark Under Kiganda Stars (Ausable Press 2005), was a runner up for the Library of Virginia Literary Award.

Lilah Hegnauer worked in the Phi Beta studio.
Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
