Linda Ely is a print maker who was born in Washington, D.C. She attended Maryland University in College Park Maryland and holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary art education. She is a recipient of numerous awards and honors. Linda's one-person shows have exhibited at The Eastern Shore Arts Association in Fairhope, AL; The Orchard Gallery in Bethesda, MD; and The Ratner Museum in Bethesda among others. Her work has been featured in many group shows, including: “New England in Contemporary American Art” at American Institute in Taipei; Maryland Fine Arts National Juried Show Invitational; Maryland Arts Place in Baltimore; the Maine Center for the Arts in Rockport; and the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, Maine.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
