Marie Silkeberg is a Swedish poet and translator, author of eight poetry books, Atlantis (2017) and Till Damaskus (2014) the most recent. She has translated Claudia Rankine, Susan Howe, Rosmarie Waldrop, and the Danish poet Inger Christensen into Swedish. This year her work with the archives and posthumous papers of Inger Christensen appeared. She has made poetry films; text/sound compositions with different poets, composers, and filmmakers; and a collective non-fiction book around Ingeborg Bachman’s novel Malina. Her poems have been translated into English, French, German, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Danish etc. She received the Signe Ekblad-Eldh Award from the Swedish Academy 2017.
While at MacDowell she wrote an essay and a series of poems on the themes of Swedish colonial history to be published in 2019 in Det kommande skallet/The Coming Shall, and started another series of poems. She also worked on the translation of Certain Magical Acts by Alice Notley to be published fall 2019.
