Marilyn Krysl is an American writer of short stories and poetry who is known for quirky and witty storytelling. She attended the University of Oregon on a full tuition scholarship, earning her B.A. and M.F.A. In 1972, she accepted a faculty position in the English department at the University of Colorado, Boulder and later became the director of creative writing. Krysl has published four short story collections, seven collections of poetry, and has won several awards for her work. She is the recipient of Fellowships from Yaddo, MacDowell, and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as the Richard Sullivan Prize for short fiction and many more prestigious grants and awards. Krysl has also submitted work to The Atlantic, The Nation, and The New Republic and co-edits for a literary journal.
