At MacDowell, media artist Marina Zurkow worked on a new suite of long, non-linear, animation projects. She completed a body of work Crossing the Waters in 2009 and premiered it at Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery, NY. She worked on connecting toxic urban waterways to oceans, and researching the tensions between maritime ecology and the ocean’s primary human use as a capitalist Pangea.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
