Martin Emanuel holds an M.F.A. from Yale University, a B.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. from Old Dominion University. As part of the Corporation for Olympic Development in 1996, Emanuel created artwork on-site for the Summer Olympics for an international stage and simultaneously became a part of Atlanta’s artistic legacy. Martin Emanuel’s Inaugural Exhibition, Martin Emanuel: Sculpture, a solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in 2002 was also the first solo exhibition for MOCA GA, further etching him into the communal psyche of contemporary art. Other exhibitions include “Connections and Contradictions: Art from Atlanta Collections” at Carlos Museum, Emory University in 1998; “Completing the Circle: Artists’ Books on the Environment” at Minnesota Center for Book Arts in 1992; and “The Art of Atlanta” at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art and Centro Cultural Cuidad de Buenos Aires in 1989.

Studios

Mixter

Martin Emanuel worked in the Mixter studio.

Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925. Mixter Studio, solidly built of yellow and grey-hued granite, once had sweeping views of Pack Monadnock to the east. The lush forest has now grown…
