While at MacDowell Marty Pottenger worked on her puppet-driven musical historical extravaganza about the history of Maine from the ice age till now as well as a book called Art At Work about her last thirty years addressing social challenges through arts projects. Her one woman play City Water Tunnel #3 was awarded an Obie and her five actor play ABUNDANCE: Money and America was selected as one of Seattle's ten best plays in 2003.

New Hampshire Studio, originally named Peterborough Studio, was given to MacDowell by Mr. and Mrs. William Schofield, Mrs. H. A. Chamberlain, Mrs. Andrew Draper, and Miss Ruth Cheney.
