Mary H.K. Choi is the New York Times Bestselling young adult author of Emergency Contact, Permanent Record, and Yolk. She is currently adapting her novels for film and TV. Previously, she was the culture correspondent for Vice News on HBO and has written for The New York Times Magazine, New York, GQ, Wired, Elle, as well as The Atlantic. She has also written comic books for Marvel and DC, and is the host of a podcast called Hey, Cool Job! about jobs, as well as Hey, Cool Life! about mental health and creativity.

While at MacDowell, Choi worked on her fourth novel, Milk Teeth (Flatiron Books, 2026). It is her first adult book.
