Matt Wray is a sociologist who worked on a book about suicide and self-destruction in Las Vegas. In his earlier work, he focused on the history of stigmatypes of poor rural whites. He grew up not far from Peterborough, NH.

In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
