Flann has an M.F.A. from Columbia University School of the Arts and an English degree from the University of California Berkeley. He worked as a journalist and free-lance writer for 32 years, most recently retired from Crain’s NY Business after 16 years.

Matthew Flamm worked in the Wood studio.
Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood.
