Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Mia received her B.F.A. from the University of Manitoba in 2004 and her M.F.A. in 2009 from the Department of Sculpture + Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University. She lives and works in Oakland, CA where she is assistant professor of sculpture at California College of The Arts and a mother of toddler named Galileo.
