Michael Broek is a poet. His chapbook about John C. Yoo, the author of the "torture memos," has been adapted to a staged reading, and his book Refuge/es from Alice James Books was released in 2015. He worked on a new manuscript of poems called Drone.

Michael Broek worked in the Wood studio.
Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
