Mike Harvkey is the author of the novel, In the Course of Human Events, published by Counterpoint/Soft Skull Press. His writing has appeared in Esquire, Salon, The Believer, Poets & Writers, Nylon, Trunk, The L, Zoetrope All-Story Magazine, Mississippi Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, and other places. Mike is a graduate fellow of Columbia University's M.F.A. in Creative Writing program, and served as fiction reviews editor at Publishers Weekly from 2010-2014. At MacDowell he wrote most of the second draft of his second novel called Everything is Falling, Everything is Wrong, which he hopes to realize by the end of 2017, but these things take time.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
