Michael Klingbeil is an Assistant Professor of Music at Yale C2 the Creative Consilience of Computing and the Arts. He is a composer who is active in contemporary concert music, electroacoustic music, and computer music research. Klingbeil studied at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, and Columbia University. His works have been performed across the United States and abroad and he earned first prize in the 2009 Salvatore Martirano Memorial Composition Competition. He has also been honored by the Concours Internationaux de Bourges, MacDowell, First Music, the Concorso Internazionale “Luigi Russolo,” and ASCAP. Klingbeil was also a computer science research fellow at the University of Iowa and has earned awards for computer software development.
