While at MacDowell Michael Okpanachi worked on a collection of short stories titled I am Sitting Here Looking at a Graveyard. He was selected as one of the emerging writers in Nigeria to celebrate Port Harcourt as the 2014 UNESCO World Book Capital.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
