Michelle Hart is the author of We Do What We Do in the Dark. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Joyland, Electric Literature, and The New Yorker online. Previously, she was the assistant books editor at O: Oprah Magazine and Oprah Daily.
During her residency at MacDowell, Hart completed a section of her second novel, Something from Nothing, about a young intersex woman who becomes entangled with a social-media-famous couple she meets on vacation, and presented an excerpt to other Fellows from another section of the book.

Mixter
Michelle Hart worked in the Mixter studio.
Built
in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by
its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also
designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925. Mixter Studio,
solidly built of yellow and grey-hued granite, once had sweeping
views of Pack Monadnock to the east. The lush forest has now grown…
