Nancy Dickinson (1934-2019) graduated from Moravian Academy in Bethlehem, PA in 1952 and graduated from Brown University with a degree in art. She received her M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. Known as the “Acorn Lady,” she was best known for her acorn community of people, their homes and possessions. She exhibits were displayed at The Forbes Library, Hitchcock Center for Environmental Studies, Baystate Medical Center, the Lincoln Nursery School at the deCordova Museum, and the Lincoln, MA Library.

Nancy Dickinson worked in the Adams studio.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
