Nancy Esposito received her B.A. and M.A. from New York University. Her first book of poems was Changing Hands (Quarterly Review of Literature Contemporary Poetry Series VI). Mêm’Rain, a winner of the National Looking Glass Poetry Chapbook Competition, was published in 2002 by Pudding House Publications, which also published Greatest Hits: 1978-2001 in 2003. A fourth book of poems, Lamentation with June Bug, was published in December 2013. She received the Discovery/The Nation Award (now Discovery), Massachusetts Arts Lottery Grant, the Colladay Award, Poetry Society of America Award, a Fulbright Grant to Egypt, and grants to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos as well as an NEH Fellowship to study the Vietnam War. She lived in Mexico and Nicaragua in the 1980s where she translated contemporary Nicaraguan poets. Sections from that manuscript were published as a supplement in American Poetry Review and Delos. Her work has appeared in numerous literary magazines such as The Nation, Southwest Review, American Poetry Review, Threepenny Review, and the Harvard Business Review as well as anthologies. Her poems have been translated into Spanish and Vietnamese. She has taught writing and literature at Harvard, Tufts, and Bentley Universities.
