Naqeeb Stevens (also known as Ambrose Stevens) is a research-based artist working in video, performance, and photography to explore embodiment through investigations in race, class, gender, and sexuality. Their creative practice works within the margins of familiarity as a way to activate large sociopolitical ambivalences and reframe the distance between individual subjectivities. He attempts to translate his understanding of social reality through the language of painting and academic discourse in order to create portals of accessible conversations about identity.
