While at MacDowell, Natalie Harris focused on extensive revisions to three stories, creating new scenes to deepen the characters and complicate the plot. She also wrote a first draft of a personal essay about family history. Her story The Pursuit of Pregnancy is scheduled to be published in The North Dakota Quarterly.

In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
