Navied Mahdavian has been a New Yorker cartoonist and writer since 2018. His work has also been published in Readers Digest, Wired, and Alta Online, and in the cartoon collections Send Help (2021) and The Best of the Rejection Collection (2022).
Before becoming a cartoonist, he received his M.Ed. from Stanford University and taught the 5th grade, where he learned most of his jokes. Mahdavian will be an artist-in-residence at the La Napoule Art Foundation in Cannes, France in October 2022.
During his MacDowell Fellowship in 2022, he completed his debut graphic memoir, This Country, about his three years in rural Idaho. It will be released in Fall 2023 by Princeton Architectural Press.
