Nay Saysourinho is the daughter of refugees, a writer, and a literary critic. She was the first recipient of the Adina Talve-Goodman Fellowship from One Story. Her work has received support from Kundiman, The Writers Grotto, The Mendocino Coast Writers Conference, Tin House, and MacDowell. Her writing can be found in The Funambulist, The Asian American Writers Workshop, Kenyon Review, and The Ploughshares Blog, among others.
While at MacDowell, she worked on her novel, an ecological fairy tale set in Southeast Asia, and a series of visual poems based on traditional Lao weaving and the oral history of her diaspora.
