Olivia Beens is a sculptor and educator from the Netherlands. Beens studied at the Pratt Institute, and Hunter College before moving to the lower east side of Manhattan where she still lives and works. Beens has taught at many arts organizations, and worked for the New York City Department of Education, Brooklyn College, and the Pratt Institute. Beens’s works have been exhibited at several venues, including Franklin Furnace, ABC No. Rio, and PS 122. She has received commissions for public art works through Public Art for Public School, and has been awarded several fellowships, including a New York State Council on the Arts Fellowship, a Virginia Center for the Creative Arts Fellowship, a Hambridge Center Fellowship, and a Fulbright-Hayes Fellowship. Additionally, Beens is a member of several political artist groups, including Colab and PADD.
