Patricia Carlin received her Ph.D. from Princeton University, focusing on Shakespeare studies and poetry and poetics. Her poetry collection Second Nature appeared in May 2017. Previous books include Quantum Jitters and Original Green, poetry collections, and Shakespeare’s Mortal Men, a study of Shakespeare’s plays in their cultural context. She has published widely in journals and anthologies such as Pleiades, Verse, Boulevard, BOMB, American Letters & Commentary, and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency; and she co-edits the poetry journal Barrow Street. Honors include fellowships at MacDowell and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She teaches literature and poetry writing at The New School, where she has received the University Distinguished Teaching Award.

Wood

Patricia Carlin worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
