Patrick (lyrics, book) and Daniel (music, book) Lazour are brothers and music theatre writers of Lebanese descent. Their work has been performed at Miller Theater, the Robsham Theater Arts Center, and Calliope Theater. They have written and produced five musicals together including The Grand Room, which was developed and performed at the Robsham Theater Arts Center at Boston College. We Live in Cairo, their musical about the youth activists in Egypt after the 2011 Revolution in Tahrir Square, was developed as part of the 2015 O’Neill National Music Theater Conference and most recently was workshopped at New York Theatre Workshop under the 2016 Richard Rodgers Award. As a part of Jeanine Tesori’s Off-Center Jamboree, Patrick and Daniel have performed alongside Sutton Foster and Jonathan Groff at New York City Center. They have developed their work during residencies at the O’Neill and SPACE on Ryder Farm. Their new musical, Bethesda, about chemotherapy treatments in the 1950s and 60s, was workshopped at the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Theatre and Rhinebeck Writers Retreat. Patrick and Daniel were 2015-16 Dramatists Guild Fellows. They most recently lectured at the American University in Cairo.

Patrick received his B.A. in political science and theatre from Boston College. Daniel received his B.A. in music from Columbia University. They live in New York City.

Patrick completed two new drafts of the musical, We Live in Cairo with his brother Daniel. We Live in Cairo follows six activists during the 2011 Egyptian Revolution in Tahrir Square. He received a Richard Rodgers Award from the Academy of Arts & Letters in 2016.

Patrick Lazour worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.

Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
