Penny Brandt Jackson is the author of the novel Becoming The Butlers (Bantam Books) and two short story collections published by Untreed Reads, L.A. Child and My Daughter's Boyfriends. Her stories, essays, and poems have been published in many magazines including The Edinburgh Review, StoryQuarterly, Burningword, Real Fiction, Lilith, and The Ontario Review. Prizes for writing include a Pushcart Prize and The Elizabeth Janeway prize from Barnard College. She is also a playwright and screenwriter. Penny's plays have been produced in New York City. Los Angeles, Seattle, Dublin, and Edinburgh. Her two short films have been in many film festivals and her third film, Overdue, is in post production.
Jackson worked on L.A. Child while in residence at MacDowell, the title story of which won a Pushcart Prize, and was published by StoryQuarterly. After dramatizing some of its stories for Dixon Place, Jackson was asked to turn one into a screenplay. It was her first film, My Dinner With Schwartzey.
