Piotr Nathan is a visual artist and native of Poland. He grew up there and in Chełmża (Kulmsee). From 1971 to 1976 he attended the High School of Fine Arts (Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych) in Gdynia. In 1977 he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. In 1980 he moved to Hamburg, Germany, to continue his 1978 studies at the College of Fine Arts. At the time of his studies, his artistic development came through studies with Sigmar Polkeand Karl-Ernst Hermann, but also by co-founding and working in the artist group Stille Helden e. V. After graduating in 1986, he moved to Berlin, where he still lives and works. Since 2006 he has worked as a professor with a focus on classical and experimental drawing and printmaking at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts in Kiel.
