Qiong Wang is an independent documentary filmmaker from China. Qiong was selected for Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2021. She is also the honoraria of the prestigious Princess Grace Award.

Her debut film, All About My Sisters, has been selected for prestigious film festivals including IFFR, NYFF, and BFI London Film Festival, and won the Pinkenson Local Feature Award at the Philadelphia Film Festival and the Jury Award for the best film at the Documenta Madrid Film Festival.

While at MacDowell she worked on her second feature-length film My Best Friend (revised from the original title Little Island), a private story about her ex-partner’ s decision to stop his film career and pursue a monastic life in a Buddhist temple, and its consequent influence on their relationship. She makes this film as a gift to her lost partner, and as a testament to the balance between passion and reverence.

Qiong Wang worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
