Rich Orloff is mostly a playwright and occasionally a performer. Since 2019 he's performed his one-person show It's a Beautiful Wound at theaters around the country and at the Arizona Psychedelics Conference. His comedy Funny as a Crutch was a New York Times Critic's Pick, and his comedy Romantic Fools has had over 100 productions, including two productions in Madrid, where they’re apparently no better at romance than we are.
Rich is the author of 15 other full-length plays (mostly comedies and mostly award-winning) and more than 80 short plays, which have received over 2000 productions on six continents – and a staged reading in Antarctica. His short comedies have been published seven times in the annual Best American Short Plays anthology series and three times in the annual Best Ten-Minute Plays anthology. They’ve also been included in the bilingual collection An Anthology of Contemporary American Plays (published in China), in The Bedford Guide to Literature, and in anthologies published by Random House and Western Michigan University Press.
Rich currently lives in New York City, but he's always looking for reasons to leave town.
