Riva Lehrer is a nationally known visual artist who collaborates with people from the Disability, LGBTQ, and other marginalized communities to create narrative portraits that address issues of stigma and redefinitions of beauty.

While in residence, she completed a substantial proportion of her memoir, Golem Girl (One World). Part I traces her experience of medical and disability history, in the light of her relationship with her mother; Part II describes the beginnings of Lehrer's career as visual artist who addresses bodily stigma through portraiture. Her work is in the 2016 Outwin Boocheever Portrait Triennial, which will be installed at the National Portrait Gallery in 2019.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
