Robert Hamburger is an American author. His first three books were the subject of an exhibition at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture as well as television, radio, and theatrical treatments. He has been a Fulbright Lecturer in Paris, India, and Morocco, and has had several residencies at MacDowell and at the Ossabaw Island Project. His work has earned him two research grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities. His documentary film, Freedom's Front Line: Fayette County, Tennessee, was aired on WKNO, Memphis's PBS station, in February 2007. He lives in New York City.

Mansfield

Robert Hamburger worked in the Mansfield studio.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club. The small, shingled frame structure with stone foundation was originally fronted on the west side by a neat white picket fence and gate, a garden, and a stone pathway…
