At MacDowell, Robinson McClellan completed Gather Me, a setting for baritone voice and strings of W.B. Yeats' Sailing to Byzantium. Robin's music has been performed and commissioned widely, and his choral music is published by E.C. Schirmer, Augsburg Fortress, and See-a-Dot Publishing. He earned his doctorate in composition at the Yale School of Music / Institute of Sacred Music. He teaches music theory at Rutgers and composition at Lucy Moses School and Young Composers & Improvisors Workshop. He founded and directs ComposerCraft, a seminar for young composers. He also works for music and education companies in product development and instructional design.

Van Zorn (formerly Kirby)

Robinson McClellan worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.

Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
