Rotimi Babatunde is a Nigerian writer and playwright. Babatunde attended the Federal Government College in Odogbolu, and Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ile. Babatunde has published a number of works, including poems and stories in anthologies, and plays that have been presented at institutions such as London’s Institute for Contemporary Arts, the Swedish National Touring Theatre, and the Halcyon Theatre in Chicago. In addition, his work has also been broadcast on the BBC World Service. Babatunde has won a series of awards, most notably the Caine Prize for African Writing for his short story Bombay Republic. He was also named in Hay Festival’s Africa the Meridian Tragic Love Story Competition, as well as the AWF Cyprian Ekwensi Prize for short stories.
