At MacDowell, Ruth Knafo Setton worked on her second novel, If I Forget You. Her first novel, The Road to Fez, would appear in paperback in 2005 as the inaugural work in a new series by the University of Wisconsin Press, "Literature of the Jewish Diasporas." Her work was also forthcoming in the "Schoeken Book of Contemporary Sephardic Literature."

Ruth Setton worked in the Sprague-Smith studio.
In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
