Sara Emily Doncaster, composer, music educator. Achievements include featured composer of Vermont symphony orchestra. Member of Vermont Arts Council (juried artist 2001-2008), American Society Composers, College Music Society.

Sara Emily Doncaster was born in Newport, Vermont. She received her Bachelor of Music in Music Theory, Composition and Piano Performance from Boston University in 1988 and a Master of Fine Arts in Music Theory, Composition and a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Theory, Composition from Brandeis University.

Since 1991, she has been the Director of the Warebrook Contemporary Music Festival in Irasburg, Vermont. She is the music teacher at the Orleans Essex North Supervisory Union, Newport, Vermont since 2001. Doncaster has been the composer mentor at the Vermont MIDI Project, Essex Junction, Vermont, since 2006.

Chapman

Sara Doncaster worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
