Sarah McColl worked on a collection of essays about the lives of forgotten women in the arts during her time as a MacDowell Fellow. She also began a cycle of poems about fertility, desire, and artistic ambition. Her first book, Joy Enough, was published in spring of 2019 by Liveright Publishing, an imprint of W.W. Norton.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
